It’s been a week full of both ups and downs at Bloomfield Road.

Transfers

  • Ex Blackpool Central defender Tom Aldred joins Motherwell on loan from Bury and joins current Blackpool defender Peter Hartley who is currently on loan with the Steelmen.
  • Scott Quigley joins National League side Wrexham until the end of the season.
  • Blackpool to complete the loan signing of Dan Agyei in the immediate future

The Seasiders are still looking a little light on the ground, after letting Quigley, Boney, and Correia out on loan. Bowyer will be desperate to bolster their squad by adding at least one new striker, with Cullen and Vassell still suffering from their respective injuries.

Blackpool announce new Chief Exec and Club Secretary

Following the 0-0 draw to Bristol Rovers former Chief Exec and Club Secretary Alex Cowdy walked from his position. Steve Edwards, who was previously Fleetwood Town’s Club Secretary will now take over Cowdy’s position short term.

Sam Oyston (son of chairman Karl) will take over as Blackpool’s new chief executive, which has not gone down lightly with the fans. Karl will now manage the day-to-day running of the business and will oversee the club’s retail, ticketing, commercial and corporate operations, as well as continue to manage the Blackpool FC Hotel and Conference Centre.

Blackpool Supporters Trust (BST) have since issued a formal complaint to the EFL, who have described the decision as ‘outrageous’.  In return, the EFL have commented saying that the appointment of Sam “is a matter for the club and not the EFL”.

In addition, Natalie Christopher has been added as a director at Blackpool FC.

Youth Team progress to FA Cup 5th Round

Unlike the first team, Blackpool’s youth team, who currently sit 7th in the youth alliance table have been performing magically this season in the FA Cup. The U18 team successfully fought back against Southampton last night and won 4-2 on penalties, after coming from a goal behind. They were then applauded by the first team in the tunnel after the match. The young Seasiders will now face Ipswich’s U18’s in the next round.  Date: TBC
